On 12 September 2012 ,H.E. Mr. Jullapong Nonsrichai, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of Thailand hosted the reception on the occasion of the official opening ceremony of the Royal Thai Embassy in Astana, at Ramada Plaza Astana Hotel . Approximately 200 guests from Kazakhstan's Government and private sectors, Ambassadors and diplomatic corps attended the event including H.E. Mrs. Gulshara Abdykhalikova, Minister of Labour and  Social Protection of the Population and Mr. Kairat Saybay, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan.

          The opening of the Royal Thai Embassy, Astana also coincided with the 20^th Anniversary of Thailand and Kazakhstan’s diplomatic relations. It also took place after the successful arrangement of the 2^nd Joint Commission for Trade and Economic, Science and Technical, and Cultural Cooperation  between Thailand and Kazakhstan in Bangkok in June 2012.
