Ambassador of Thailand to Kazakhstan attended the 38th Astana ASEAN Committee (AAC) meeting

On 11 August 2023 H.E. Mr. Chatchawan Sakornsin, Ambassador of Thailand to the Republic of Kazakhstan attended the 38th Astana ASEAN Committee (AAC) meeting, which was chaired by the Ambassador of Viet Nam and was also participated by Ambassadors of Indonesia and Malaysia.

The meeting took note of the activities, jointly organized by the AAC during 2022 and the first half of 2023. As for Thailand, Ambassador Chatchawan expressed his gratitude to the AAC and its working group for taking part in such activities, held and led by the Royal Thai Embassy as touch rugby game and the establishment of the ASEAN book corner at Nazarbayev University. In addition, Ambassador Chatchawan thanked AAC for having accepted the invitation of the Royal Thai Embassy to take part in the upcoming Muaythai & ASEAN Cultural Fair, scheduled to be held on 26 August 2023 at Khan Shartyr shopping mall.

During the meeting, the AAC discussed activities that could potentially be jointly organized in the second half of 2023 and in 2024. These activities include the possibility of holding a roundtable discussion on trade route and connectivity between Kazakhstan and South and Southeast Asia, an ASEAN food festival, and an activity for halal industries promotion.

The meeting concluded with the AAC chairmanship handover from the Ambassador of Viet Nam to the Ambassador of Malaysia. Currently, there are four countries as members of the AAC, namely Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Viet Nam.
