On 2 July 2025, H.E. Mrs. Piyapin Niyomrerks, Ambassador of Thailand to Kazakhstan attended the inauguration ceremony of the new Headquarters of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) in Astana. The event was presided over by H.E. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan and was also attended by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Deputy Foreign Ministers, and heads of diplomatic missions accredited to Kazakhstan. On this occasion, Ambassador Piyapin had an informal discussion with President Tokayev, who extended his congratulations on the growing dynamism of Thailand-Kazakhstan cooperation and expressed his hope for a high-level visit from the Thai leadership to Kazakhstan in the near future to further strengthen bilateral relations.
Thailand has been a member of CICA since 2000 and plays an active role in promoting cooperation among its 28 Member States. Thailand currently serves as the coordinator for sustainable development under the environmental dimension, and as a co-coordinator on SMEs development under the economic eimension of CICA’s confidence-building measures in Asia, the main mechanism in driving forward cooperation among its Member States.
