Ambassador of Thailand to Kazakhstan delivered talks in an online business seminar “Kazakhstan: The Potential Gateway to Central Asia Market”

On 16 August 16 2023 H.E. Mr. Chatchawan Sakornsin, Ambassador of Thailand to Kazakhstan delivered his talks on the topic “Trade and Investment Opportunities between Thailand and Kazakhstan” at the online business seminar “Kazakhstan: The Potential Gateway to Central Asia Market”, organized by the Department of International Trade Promotion, Ministry of Commerce, to promote Thailand’s trade opportunities in Kazakhstan.

In his talks, Ambassador Chatchawan shared his perspective on Kazakhstan as an alternative market with great potential for Thailand. Several types of Thai products can possibly compete in Kazakhstan’s market that is on high demand such as food products, children's products, stationery and home décor products, and auto parts related products. In addition, Ambassador Chatchawan highlighted the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) or the Middle Corridor and International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) as optional trade and logistic routes for the Thai private sector to consider using for exporting their products to Kazakhstan.

During the online business seminar, Ambassador Chatchawan highlighted the activities and undertakings of the Royal Thai Embassy in Astana, aimed at helping increase trade volume between Thailand and Central Asia, including Kazakhstan, to 500 million USD by 2027, which is in line with the Central Asia Strategic Plan between 2022 - 2027. They include the study-visit to Aktau port as part of the feasibility study of trading routes for Thai products to Kazakhstan, the online business matching between Thai exporters and Kazakh importers as part of the Thai food and halal products promotion project, and the project of promoting Thailand through the eyes of the Kazakh youths, journalists, and influencers. The Muaythai & ASEAN Cultural Fair event and the visit of the Thai public and private sectors to assess raw materials in Kazakhstan and Tajikistan in contributing to green technology, renewable energy, and gems and jewelry industries of Thailand are scheduled to be held at the end of August and the middle of September 2023.
