On 8 December 2025, Mrs. Piyapin Niyomrerks, Ambassador of Thailand to Kazakhstan, met with Mr. Arsen Omarov, Director of the Department of International Security of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, to provide information regarding Thailand’s co-hosting, together with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), of the International Conference on the Global Partnership against Online Scams, to be held from 17 - 18 December 2025 in Bangkok. On this occasion, the Ambassador invited Kazakhstan to consider sending a high-level representative at the ministerial level to participate in the said Conference.
The organization of the International Conference on the Global Partnership against Online Scams follows the announcement made by H.E. Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister of Thailand, during the 47th ASEAN Summit and related Summits in October 2025 in Kuala Lumpur. The Conference aims to foster a Global Partnership against Online Scams by bringing together countries to exchange experiences, best practices, challenges, and intelligence, and to develop more coordinated international cooperation in combating online scams. It seeks to galvanize collective support for a more unified global response to prevent, investigate, and disrupt transnational online scam operations and related crimes; to strengthen mechanisms for victim-centred protection, particularly for victims of trafficking in persons connected to scam centres; and to promote effective justice for all those affected.
