On 3 September 2024, Mr. Chachawan Sakornsin, Ambassador of Thailand to Kazakhstan, welcomed Professor Wisit Wisitsora - at, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society of Thailand and the Ministry’s delegation, to Astana, to attend the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Digital Inclusion and Transformation, held by UNESCAP and the Government of Kazakhstan on 3 - 5 September 2024. The Conference was held to promote cooperation on digital inclusion and transformation in the Asia - Pacific region, with the emphasis on the application of digital technology as a tool to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The Conference was well attended by ministerial and senior officials from the UNESCAP member countries and representatives of relevant international organizations.
During the participation in the Conference, the Head of the Thai delegation exchanged views on Thailand’s digital policies, highlighting the importance of comprehensively and equitably reducing the digital access gap without leaving anyone behind through various national projects. This includes the Net Pracharat Project, the Project for People with Disabilities, Digital ID e-Document, and Cloud-Based Policy. Thailand’s international cooperation also encompasses the regional cooperation to jointly combat online fraud intelligence and the support for international and regional cooperation to strengthen safe, secure, and sustainable digital development.
In addition, at the High-Level Forum on the topic of Digital Public Services for Enhanced Competitiveness of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, Thailand shared ways to enhance the competitiveness of the country's SMEs, an important economic system amid digital transformation. Thailand has attached significant in developing three areas, namely, Money, Market, and Management, through the promotion and support of digital knowledge and tools for SMEs to access capital, create online trading channels, and manage businesses.
