On the occasion of the visit of His Excellency Mr. Sarun Charoensuwan, the Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, to Kazakhstan during 6 - 7 March 2026, to attend the 1st Thailand–Kazakhstan Bilateral Political Consultations, Her Excellency Mrs. Piyapin Niyomrerks, Ambassador of Thailand to Kazakhstan, participated in meetings between the Secretary and key Kazakhstani agencies in both Astana and Almaty.

On the morning of 6 March 2026, the Ambassador joined a meeting with Mr. Arman Shakkaliyev, Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan, and Mr. Aidar Abildabekov, Vice Minister of Trade and Integration, together with senior representatives from key economic agencies of Kazakhstan, including QazTrade, Kazakh Invest, Kazakh Tourism, Astana Hub, and the Ministry of Transport. Both sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation in economic diplomacy, particularly in trade, investment, logistics, digital technology, and tourism between Thailand and Kazakhstan. In the afternoon of the same day, the Ambassador also participated in a meeting with Mr. Askhat Khasenov, Chairman of the Management Board of KazMunayGas, and the company’s senior management to exchange views on the potential and opportunities for energy cooperation between Thailand and Kazakhstan, amid current global geopolitical challenges.

On the morning of 7 March 2026, the Ambassador took part in a meeting with Mr. Olzhas Mukhtarovich Smagulov, Deputy Akim of Almaty, to exchange views on the potential for cooperation between Thailand and Almaty, the largest city of Kazakhstan and a key hub for economic, trade, tourism, and connectivity development. In the evening, the Ambassador participated in a meeting with Mr. Marat Eleusizovich Sultangaziev, Akim of Almaty Region, to discuss ways to further promote economic and trade cooperation between Thailand and the Almaty Region.

During the visit to Almaty, the Ambassador also had the opportunity to engage with the Thai community to receive updates on their well-being, challenges, as well as their needs, which would help guide the Royal Thai Government in enhancing its consular services and support for Thai nationals in Kazakhstan.

The above meetings and activities significantly contributed to strengthening Thailand-Kazakhstan relations across multiple dimensions, including political, economic, energy, and people-to-people connectivity. They also laid a solid foundation for advancing bilateral cooperation and exploring new areas of collaboration with strong potential, such as trade and investment, digital technology, logistics, tourism, and energy. These efforts will help generate tangible mutual benefits and further deepen the strategic partnership between Thailand and Kazakhstan for the long-term benefit of the peoples of both countries.
