On 14 May 2025, H.E. Mrs. Piyapin Niyomrerks, Ambassador of Thailand to Kazakhstan, welcomed and hosted a dinner in honor of Mr. Passakorn Chairat, Director-General of the Office of Industrial Economics, along with a delegation from the Ministry of Industry and the Institute of Future Studies for Development, at the Ambassador’s Residence, on the occasion of their official visit to Kazakhstan from 13 to 16 May 2025. Mrs. Orathai Phubunlap Gunaseelan, Counsellor, was entrusted to accompany the delegation in meetings with relevant organizations in the halal industry and services sector of Kazakhstan, namely (1) Halal Committee of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan (SAMK), (2) Association of Halal Industry of Kazakhstan (AHIK), (3) Kazakhstan Institute of Standardization and Metrology, (4) Department of Agricultural Markets and Processing of Agricultural Products of the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, (5) Association of Agricultural Producers and Exporters of Kazakhstan, (6) Atasu Group, and (7) Nur-Mubarak Egyptian University of Islamic Culture.

          Ambassador Piyapin exchanged views with the Director of the Office of Industrial Economics and the delegation on the opportunities and potential for the halal industry and services in Kazakhstan. The Thai delegation also commended the Embassy’s initiative in implementing the project to promote Thailand’s halal food industry in Central Asian countries carried out in the 2024 budget year, which has made Thai agencies recognize the potential of Kazakhstan and the broader Central Asian region, and thus contributing to the development of a project focused on enhancing Thailand’s cooperation in halal industrial products and services with other countries, including Kazakhstan. The first-hand information and findings from the visit will be used to formulate policy recommendations, strategies, guidelines, measures, and negotiation positions to foster future cooperation between Thailand and Kazakhstan in the halal industrial and service sectors.
