On 5 August 2026, H.E. Mrs. Piyapin Niyomrerks, Ambassador of Thailand to Kazakhstan, held an online meeting with Mr. Issatay Adressov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Almaty Invest, and Ms. Anar Altay, Manager of the Investment Promotion Department of Almaty Invest. Both sides discussed establishing closer working contacts to promote economic and investment cooperation between Thailand and the City of Almaty, as well as coordinating preparations for the upcoming visit to Thailand by Mr. Darkhan Amangeldyuly Satybaldy, Governor of Almaty, and a delegation from the City of Almaty in September 2026. On this occasion, the Ambassador expressed the Embassy’s readiness to facilitate connections between Almaty Invest and relevant Thai agencies, as well as prospective Thai private-sector partners, with a view to fostering tangible business and investment opportunities between the two sides.

The planned visit to Thailand by Mr. Darkhan Amangeldyuly Satybaldy, Governor of Almaty, follows the visit to Kazakhstan by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand from 24 - 27 June 2026. During the visit, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs travelled to Almaty and presided over the Thailand - Kazakhstan Business Forum on 26 June 2026. The Forum successfully generated momentum for economic cooperation between Thailand and Kazakhstan, particularly between Thailand and the City of Almaty, while also stimulating greater interest among the private sectors of both countries in exploring new opportunities for trade and investment.
