On 24 May 2026, Her Excellency Mrs. Piyapin Niyomrerks, Ambassador of Thailand to Kazakhstan, welcomed a high-level economic delegation from Kazakhstan and Almaty Region, led by Mr. Bakytnur Bakytuly, Deputy Governor of Almaty Region (equivalent to the rank of Deputy Minister), during their visit to Thailand to promote trade and economic cooperation between Thailand and Kazakhstan. On this occasion, the Ambassador hosted a welcome dinner for the delegation, which included senior representatives from key economic institutions of Kazakhstan, namely the Governor of Konaev City, the Vice Chairman of the DAMU Entrepreneurship Development Fund, a government agency responsible for supporting Kazakhstan’s SMEs and business development, the Director General of the Export Promotion Department under the Ministry of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan, executives from QazTrade, Kazakhstan’s national trade and export promotion organization under the Ministry of Trade and Integration, executives from economic and tourism agencies of Almaty Region, representatives from Almaty City, as well as members of the Kazakhstan's private sector, totalling nearly 30 participants.

During the event, the Ambassador emphasized that the visit marked an important milestone in Thailand-Kazakhstan economic and trade relations. The participation of the Kazakh private sector delegation in the Thailand-Kazakhstan Business Forum on 25 May 2026, as well as in THAIFEX - Anuga Asia 2026 to be held during 26 - 30 May 2026, provides an important opportunity to strengthen business networks between the private sectors of both countries, promote business matching, build confidence, and open doors for future economic and trade cooperation in mutually beneficial sectors.

The visit to Thailand of the high-level economic delegation from Kazakhstan and Almaty Region forms part of the Royal Thai Embassy in Astana’s project entitled “Enhancing Thailand-Kazakhstan Economic Cooperation in High-Potential Sectors through Strategic Economic Networking and Participation in THAIFEX-Anuga Asia 2026,” implemented during 21 - 29 May 2026. The project aims to promote economic, trade, and investment cooperation between Thailand and Kazakhstan, particularly in processed food, agriculture, and tourism sectors. It also provides opportunities for the Thai businesses to engage with executives from Almaty Region, one of Kazakhstan’s fastest-growing economic regions, while promoting Thailand’s strengths and international image in food, agriculture, and tourism industries. Furthermore, the initiative serves as an important step in preparation for the official visit of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand to Kazakhstan in June 2026.
