On 6 November 2023, H.E. Mr. Chatchawan Sakornsin, Ambassador of Thailand to the Republic of Kazakhstan, led a delegation of the Royal Thai Embassy to the Dunga Oil and Gas Field. The Dunga Field is located at the Mangystau region on the west of Kazakhstan, which is next to the Caspian Sea and the city of Aktau, a key seaport in the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR or Middle Corridor).

Having acquired Partex Holding worldwide, including in Kazakhstan, Thailand’s PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTTEP) has its 20% share interest as the contractor in the Dunga Field project. Other participants in the project include Total E & P Dunga GmbH (as the operator with the share interest of 60%) and Oman Oil Company Limited (as the contractor with the share interest of 20%). Currently, the Dunga Field is the 5th largest onshore oil and gas project in the Mangystau region with the field’s reserves at 106 million tons of oil and over 6 billion cubic meters of gas. The Field produces 7,400 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
