On 3 September 2026, H.E. Mrs. Piyapin Niyomrerks, Ambassador of Thailand to Kazakhstan, hosted a dinner in honour of H.E. Mr. Kairat Sarybay, Secretary General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), and his spouse. The dinner was also attended by the Ambassadors of Indonesia, Malaysia and Viet Nam to Kazakhstan, together with their spouses. On this occasion, Ambassador Piyapin exchanged views with the CICA Secretary General on Thailand’s role and engagement within the CICA framework, as well as ways to further promote cooperation between CICA and ASEAN Member States, including through enhanced engagement and exchanges between the ASEAN Secretariat and the CICA Secretariat. They also exchanged views on recent political developments in Kazakhstan following the Kurultai Parliamentary election held on 23 August 2026. The dinner formed part of the Royal Thai Embassy’s proactive diplomatic efforts to further strengthen Thailand’s role and active engagement within CICA, of which Thailand is a Member State, while fostering closer relations and high-level networks between Thailand and the CICA Secretariat.
