On 6 December 2023, H.E. Mr. Chatchawan Sakornsin, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand, hosted a reception to mark the Auspicious Occasions of the Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great, the National Day of the Kingdom of Thailand and Thai Father’s Day at the Sheraton Astana Hotel. After the speech of Ambassador Chatchawan, H.E. Mr. Yerzhan Yerkinbayev, Deputy Minister of Tourism of Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, delivered congratulatory remarks as the Guest of Honour. The reception was well attended by approximately 230 people, comprising Kazakh dignitaries, Heads and Members of the Diplomatic Corps and the International Organizations accredited to Kazakhstan, Kazakh private and academic sectors, as well as Friends of Thailand and Thai nationals and spouses working and living in Kazakhstan.

The Royal Thai Embassy has attached great significance to the promotion of Thailand’s tourism and Thailand as a hub of international conventions and exhibitions. This is in line with the policy of the Royal Thai Government, particularly the approval of the 30-day tourist visa free exemption for Kazakhstani passport holders to visit Thailand for the tourism purpose. Thus, this year’s reception, Mr. Puripan Bunnag, Senior Vice President of Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) and Mr. Thaneth Tantipiriyakij, President of Phuket Tourist Association, leading the delegations of TCEB and Phuket Tourist Association, presented information about the MICE tourism in Thailand and Phuket, drawing great interests from the reception’s participants. The Thai private sector and Air Astana, which operates 7 direct flights/week from Almaty to Bangkok and 11 from Almaty to Phuket, also sponsored prizes and gifts for the participants of the reception.
