On April 22 2026, H.E. Mrs. Piyapin Niyomrerks, Ambassador of Thailand to Kazakhstan, graced over and gave a welcoming address at the Opening Ceremony of Thailand Pavilion at the Kazakhstan International Tourism Fair 2026 (KITF 2026), held during 22-24 April 2026 at the Atakent Exhibition Center in Almaty. Ms. Kanchana Sing-udom, Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Moscow Office, led a tour of the booth whereby the Ambassador had the opportunity to meet and exchanges views with representatives from 10 leading Thai tourism operators on ways to further promote Thailand’s tourism in Kazakhstan and Central Asia market. Over the past years, Kazakhstan has been a significant and growing tourism market for Thailand, with approximately 170,000 - 200,000 arrivals per year.
KITF is a major and one of the most anticipated annual travel and tourism sale promotion events in Central Asia. The Tourism Authority of Thailand, Moscow Office, has continuously participated in the event every year since its inception. This year’s design of Thailand Pavilion was inspired by the concept of cinema box office to promote tourism destinations through Thailand’s well-known "Film Locations” which appeared in international films, series, and music videos, such as White Lotus, The Beach, Jurassic World Rebirth, and the Korean series King the Land. There were also performances of traditional Thai dance from the four regions, demonstrations of Khon mask painting, shadow puppetry making, and Nora beadwork, which attracted considerable interest from attendees.
On this occasion, the Ambassador also had the opportunity to welcome Mr. Smagulov Olzhas Mukhtarovich, Deputy Governor of Almaty, who presided over the KITF 2026 Opening Ceremony, as well as executives of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan, Kazakh Tourism during their visits to Thailand booth. This year's KITF featured 414 companies from 24 countries worldwide, including Asian countries such as China, Malaysia, Korea, India, and Thailand.
