From 13 to 17 April 2025, the Royal Thai Embassy in Astana organized the Projects “Basic Health Check-up and Mental Health Counseling, Labor Law Counseling, and Activity to Strengthen Thai Community in Kazakhstan” and “the Mobile Consular 2025” in Astana and Almaty. The projects were supported by Dr. Warangkana Rakngan, Medical Physician, Senior Professional Level, and Dr. Patraporn Kinorn, Medical Physician, Senior Professional Level, from the Princess Mother National Institute on Drug Abuse Treatment, Department of Medical Services, Ministry of Public Health.
At the opening ceremony, Her Excellency Mrs. Piyapin Niyomrerks, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Republic of Kazakhstan, emphasized that the protection and promotion of the welfare and interests of Thai nationals in Kazakhstan is one of the priorities of the Embassy. Ambassador Piyapin reaffirmed the Embassy’s strong commitment to supporting and assisting the Thai community in Kazakhstan and encouraged Thai nationals to stay updated through the Embassy’s Facebook page and website, as well as to contact the Embassy via its emergency hotline or the official LINE group of the Thai community in Kazakhstan.
The projects featured the following key activities: (1) basic health check-ups and mental health counseling, including a presentation on “Physical and Mental Health Care for Thais Abroad;” (2) a presentation on “Protection of Thai Nationals Abroad and Basic Laws for Thai Workers Overseas” by Dr. Orathai Phuboonlap Gunaseelan, Counselor; (3) mobile passport issuance and civil registration consultation for Thai nationals residing in Almaty and nearby areas; and (4) Songkran Day celebration.
The implementation of the projects in Astana and Almaty in line with Thailand’s “People Diplomacy, Everywhere We Care,” received overwhelmingly positive feedback from the Thai community, with over 150 participants attended the projects. The events provided an opportunity for direct consultation with medical professionals, allowed Thai nationals to gain awareness of their rights as migrant workers in Kazakhstan and enabled them to seek advice for work-related concerns, which the Embassy pledged to address as a priority. In addition, the projects offered mobile consular services and created a platform for Thai nationals to connect, foster networks and exchange experiences. These meaningful engagements significantly boosted morale within the community, thereby strengthening the overall cohesion of the Thai community in Kazakhstan. Many participants expressed their appreciation and hope that the Embassy would continue organizing such projects on an annual basis.
