On 26 May 2024, H.E. Mr. Chatchawan Sakornsin, Ambassador of Thailand, led a team of the Embassy’s officials, their families, and the Embassy’s staff in the touch rugby game against the team of the Secretariat of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), headed by Ambassador Kairat, Sarabay, the CICA’s Secretary-General. The game, which was an initiative of the Royal Thai Embassy, was conducted in a very friendly manner amid the spring rain, aimed at enhancing relations and strengthening team-building spirit among both organizations’ personnel.

On this occasion, Ambassador Chatchawan officially presented a donation of 500,000 Baht from the Royal Thai Government to support the CICA’s Secretariat’s undertakings and activities. In his remarks, Ambassador Chatchawan stressed Thailand’s role and activities to promote closer cooperation with the CICA Secretariat and among the CICA Member States. Thailand has been a member of the CICA since 2004. Currently there are 28 Member States of CICA, and Thailand has continued to play an active role in CICA, particularly Thailand’s leading role in the sustainable development and SMEs development as the coordinator and co-coordinator, respectively. One of the activities to reaffirm Thailand’s commitment and leading role in the sustainable development and SMEs development with the CICA framework is the upcoming project “Promoting Cooperation in Sustainable Development between Thailand, CICA Secretariat, and CICA Member States in Central Asia”, which is the Royal Thai Embassy’s project, scheduled to be in held Thailand in June 2024.
