On 20 May 2024, H.E. Mr. Chatchawan Sakornsin, Ambassador of Thailand to the Republic of Kazakhstan, led the Embassy’s officials, their families, and staff in the tree-planting activity of 16 Niedzwiecki Apple Trees. The activity, held at the Presidential Park, the location of the Pyramid of Peace and Reconciliation, one of the most unique structures of Kazakhstan, was organized to celebrate this year’s Auspicious Occasion of the 6th Birthday Cycle of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua of Thailand. The activity was also aimed at supporting Kazakhstan’s national policy gearing towards the restoration of forests as part of the country’s transition to a green economy as well as preventing deforestation and forest degradation. The activity also helped contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

The tree-planting activity was a joint collaboration of the Royal Thai Embassy in Astana, the Akimat of Almaty District of Astana City, and the Sustainable Development “Earth Foundation” of Kazakhstan. More than 100 guests, who are Thai nationals in Kazakhstan, government officials of Kazakhstan, young ambassadors in the sphere of environmental protection and reforestation of the Sustainable Development “Earth Foundation”, heads of diplomatic missions and diplomatic corps in Kazakhstan, the CICA’s Secretary-General and personnel, and senior managers of educational establishments and hospitals in Astana, participating in the activity. The candle-lighting activity to wish His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua of Thailand and President Tokayev of Kazakhstan for health, happiness, and long life, was organized subsequently, and it was well attended by all guests who participated in the tree-planting activity.
