On 7 May 2024, H.E. Mr. Chatchawan Sakornsin, Ambassador of Thailand to the Republic of Kazakhstan, led a delegation of the Embassy to implement an economic project at the Rixos Water World Aktau, the largest five-star hotel in Kazakhstan, located in the Aktau City of the Mangystau region. The project was aimed at further expanding the popularity of Thai food and Thai food products in Kazakhstan, promoting Thailand as a leading country in high-value agricultural and processed agricultural products, and seeking opportunities in market-shares for Thai entrepreneurs and SMEs in food products in Kazakhstan and Central and Eurasian regions. The project was a collaboration between the Astana ASEAN Committee (AAC) and the Rixos Water World Aktau Hotel, who jointly organized two important activities as the followings.
1. A seminar on “Trans-Caspian International Trade Route and Logistics: Opportunities for Trade and Goods from ASEAN Member Countries” was held as part of the project to seek ways and means to bring goods and food and agricultural products from Thailand and other ASEAN countries to Kazakhstan and Central Asian and Eurasian regions. More than 30 people participated in this activity, including Ambassador Chatchawan Sakornsin of Thailand, Ambassador Fadjroel Rachman of Indonesia, the AAC diplomats, representatives of trade, investment and tourism promotion departments of the Akimat of Mangystau region, Aktau Port, Kuryk Port, and local media of the Mangystau region and the Aktau city.
2. The Asian Street Food Festival was organized to showcase cuisine of Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam to more than 500 Kazakhs and expats at the Rixos Water World Aktau and in the Aktau city. The exhibition on Thai food products and ingredients, and high-processing food products as well as on Thailand's famous and beautiful attractions was also presented. In addition, the representatives of the Agricultural Office of Thailand in Moscow, also in charge of agricultural-related cooperation between Thailand and Kazakhstan, also took part in the Project by giving away samples of Thai rice to the Festival’s visitors.
