On 21 July 2025, H.E. Mrs. Piyapin Niyomreks, Ambassador of Thailand to Kazakhstan, represented Thailand at the Senior Officials Committee (SOC) Meeting of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), held in a hybrid format at the newly inaugurated CICA Secretariat Headquarters in Astana, Kazakhstan. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Azer Musayev, Director of the Department of Regional Security, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The SOC serves as CICA’s principal policy-level forum for reviewing progress and setting the strategic direction of cooperation among its Member States. A key agenda item at this session was the review of progress under the environmental dimension, for which Thailand serves as the coordinator for the priority area of sustainable development. On this occasion, Ambassador Piyapin delivered a statement outlining Thailand’s role in promoting cooperation on sustainable development among CICA Member States. She highlighted various capacity-building activities and knowledge-sharing programs initiated by Thailand that are grounded in the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP), the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy Model, and aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Chair commended Thailand for its constructive role and longstanding commitment in fostering collaboration among CICA Member States.
