On 25 May 2026, H.E. Mrs. Piyapin Niyomrerks, Ambassador of Thailand to Kazakhstan, led an executives delegation from Almaty Region, Almaty City, and the DAMU Entrepreneurship Development Fund participating in the Royal Thai Embassy in Astana’s project entitled “Enhancing Thailand - Kazakhstan Economic Cooperation in High-Potential Sectors through Strategic Economic Networking and Participation in THAIFEX - Anuga Asia 2026,” implemented during 21 - 29 May 2026, to attend the Thailand - Kazakhstan Business Forum held at the Thai Chamber of Commerce in Bangkok. The Forum was jointly organized by the Thai Chamber of Commerce, the Royal Thai Embassy in Astana, and the Embassy of Kazakhstan to Thailand. The opening ceremony was co-chaired by Dr. Poj Aramwattananont, Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Trade of Thailand, H.E. Mr. Bakytnur Bakytuly, Deputy Governor of Almaty Region, H.E. Mrs. Piyapin Niyomrerks, Ambassador of Thailand to Kazakhstan, and H.E. Mr. Margulan Baimukhan, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Thailand. The event was attended by more than 100 representatives from the private sector and economic agencies of both countries.

In her opening remarks, Ambassador Piyapin emphasized the importance of Kazakhstan and the wider Central Asian region as emerging markets of strategic significance for Thailand. She also highlighted the key drivers behind the growing political relations and economic cooperation between the two countries, as well as Thailand’s Proactive Economic Diplomacy policy. The Ambassador expressed confidence that the visit of the Kazakh delegation and the organization of the Business Forum would further expand economic, trade, and investment cooperation, while strengthening connectivity and partnerships between the private sectors of both countries. Dr. Poj highlighted the important role of the Thai private sector in strengthening cooperation with Kazakhstan, particularly in the fields of food, agriculture, tourism, and services. Mr. Bakytnur Bakytuly expressed Kazakhstan’s readiness to further enhance cooperation with Thailand in trade, investment, logistics, and tourism, while Ambassador Margulan Baimukhan commended the active role of both Embassies in advancing concrete economic cooperation and reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s commitment to deepening bilateral economic engagement with Thailand.

On this occasion, Ambassador Piyapin also witnessed the signing ceremonies of four Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs), namely (1) an MOU between the Thai Chamber of Commerce and QazTrade; (2) an MOU between Almaty Region and the Thai Hotels Association; (3) an MOU between Almaty Region and the Thai Travel Agents Association; and (4) an MOU between Almaty Region and the Association of Thai Travel Agents. These documents reflect the strong commitment of both sides to promoting concrete economic and tourism cooperation. The Thailand - Kazakhstan Business Forum also featured presentations on trade and investment opportunities and the economic potential of Thailand and Kazakhstan, as well as business matching sessions between Thai and Kazakh entrepreneurs aimed at strengthening business networks and expanding future economic cooperation between the two countries.
