On 1 October 2025, H.E. Mrs. Piyapin Niyomrerks, Ambassador of Thailand to Kazakhstan, presented a replica of the Royal Barge Suphannahong to the Secretariat of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA). The gift was received by Mr. Farid Damirli, Deputy Secretary-General of CICA, in the presence of representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and the Institute of Asian Studies of Chulalongkorn University, who witnessed the official handover. The CICA Secretariat will display this replica in its permanent exhibition at the new CICA Headquarters, together with artworks contributed by other CICA Member States, under the project “CICA Cultural Kaleidoscope: Embracing Diversity Through Art.” This initiative seeks to foster cultural exchange, promote respect for cultural diversity, and strengthen unity among CICA Member States.

In explaining the significance of the Royal Barge Suphannahong as the principal vessel in the King’s Royal Procession, with exquisite craftsmanship as its bow carved in the shape of swan, the Ambassador also elaborated on the meaningful metaphor of the rowing of the barge whereby the oarsmen are required to move in perfect harmony, with collective strength and unity, to propel the barge to the same direction and destiny. Likewise, CICA Member States must advance together in sync and rhythm, with trust, confidence and cooperation, towards a future of shared peace and security.
