On 6 April 2026, H.E. Mrs. Piyapin Niyomrerks, Ambassador of Thailand to Kazakhstan, presided over and delivered opening remarks at the “Thailand-Kazakhstan Networking Event on Excellence in Healthcare, Wellness & Medical Services” at the Sheraton Astana Hotel, Astana. The event constituted a key activity under the Royal Thai Embassy’s Project entitled “Thailand-Kazakhstan Academic Medical Collaboration on Oncology, Precision Medicine, Multidisciplinary Care, and Wellness”, organized in Astana from 5 to 9 April 2026. The initiative aims to promote collaboration in healthcare and public health between Thailand and Kazakhstan, while providing a platform for the exchange of knowledge and expertise among medical institutions of both countries. It also seeks to advance cooperation in oncology, modern medicine, and medical innovation, as well as to highlight Thailand’s potential as a regional Medical and Wellness Hub.

On this occasion, the Ambassador emphasized that the Project aligns with the policies of the Royal Thai Government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand in promoting science, research and innovation (SRI) diplomacy, which forms an integral part of Thailand’s economic diplomacy. The project also supports Thailand’s aspiration to become a regional medical and wellness hub by bringing together leading Thai experts in oncology and medical innovation from both the public and private sectors, including Chulabhorn Royal Academy, the Faculties of Medicine of Mahidol University and Khon Kaen University, Samitivej Hospital Group, and C.T. Asia Robotics. This initiative represents a significant step in strengthening institutional cooperation between Thailand and Kazakhstan, while addressing gaps in awareness and information on healthcare systems between the two countries. It opens new opportunities for collaboration in high-potential areas such as oncology, precision medicine, and advanced medical technologies. The Ambassador also commended Kazakhstan’s strong commitment to developing its healthcare system and enhancing medical capabilities, which will serve as a solid foundation for further cooperation in research, capacity building, and multi-stakeholder partnerships among government agencies, private sector actors, and academic institutions. Such collaboration is expected to yield tangible and sustainable outcomes and contribute to long-term health security in both countries.

The Thailand-Kazakhstan Networking Event on Excellence in Healthcare, Wellness & Medical Services was successfully held, effectively raising awareness of the strengths of Thailand’s medical institutions, both public and private, as well as the country’s advancements in medical innovation. The event provided an opportunity for participants from both countries to network, exchange information, and explore potential collaboration at institutional, business, and governmental levels. It is expected to lead to concrete cooperation in science, research, and innovation, thereby advancing Thailand’s SRI diplomacy agenda under its economic diplomacy policy. The event attracted strong interest from executives and representatives of key Kazakhstani government agencies, leading medical institutions, universities, specialized hospitals, medical tourism companies, and media organizations. More than 70 participants attended, including representatives from University Medical Center, Presidential Hospital, National Center for Neurosurgery, Nazarbayev University School of Medicine, Center for Nuclear Medicine and Oncology in Semey, National Center for Children’s Rehabilitation, International SOS Astana, Ecolife Astana, Rakhat Clinic, Tulip Medicine, MediAsta, Astana Tourism, Jibek Joly and 24KZ TV Channels.
