On 22 August 2024, H.E. Mr. Chatchawan Sakornsin, Ambassador of Thailand to Kazakhstan, entrusted Dr. Orathai Phubunlap Gunaseelan with the oraganization of an academic networking and dinner event at Sukosol Hotel Bangkok. The event was part of the Royal Thai Embassy’s ongoing project to promote educational and academic cooperation between Thailand and three countries in Central Asia, namely, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, and Tajikistan, between 18 - 25 August 2024. The event was well participated by the executives of Chulalongkorn University, Thammasat University, Rangsit University, Walailak University, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, and Ubon Ratchathani University of the Thai side, and the M. Auezov South Kazakhstan State University, Kyrgyz State Technical University named after I. Razzakov, and Tajik National University of the Central Asian countries. To enhance academic cooperation of Thailand with the Central Asian countries, the idea of establishing a Central Asian research unit was proposed during the event.
