On 5 March 2026, Her Excellency Mrs. Piyapin Niyomrerks, Ambassador of Thailand to Kazakhstan, and the officials of the Royal Thai Embassy in Astana, welcomed His Excellency Mr. Sarun Charoensuwan, Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, and the delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand on the occasion of their visit to Kazakhstan to participate in the 1st Thailand-Kazakhstan Bilateral Political Consultations in Astana.

The Meeting, which convened for the first time under the framework of the Protocol on Cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, signed on 20 October 2004, hosted by His Excellency Mr. Alibek Bakayev, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, while on the Thai side, the Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand co-hosted the Meeting.

The Thailand-Kazakhstan Bilateral Political Consultations serves as an important platform for reviewing cooperation between the two countries at both the bilateral and multilateral levels, as well as for exploring new areas of cooperation where both sides have strong potential to complement each other. The Meeting also provided an opportunity for the two sides to exchange views on political and economic developments in their respective countries, as well as on issues of global and regional concern.

During the Meeting, both sides agreed on the initiative to develop a Roadmap for Cooperation to further advance practical collaboration in key areas, including economic and trade cooperation, agriculture, tourism, and digital technology, for the mutual benefit of the peoples of the two countries. The two sides also discussed preparations for the official visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand to Kazakhstan, which is expected to take place in the second half of 2026.
