On 17 January 2025, Dr. Orathai Phubunlap Gunaseelan, Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. of the Royal Thai Embassy in Astana, chaired a meeting of the Working Group of the Astana ASEAN Committee (AAC WG). The meeting was attended by diplomats from the Embassies of Indonesia, Malaysia, and Vietnam in Astana, along with diplomats from the Royal Thai Embassy, who together form the AAC in Kazakhstan.

      During the meeting, participants reviewed the joint activities organized by the AAC in 2024 and discussed plans for the AAC initiatives in 2025, aimed at raising awareness of ASEAN in Kazakhstan and strengthening cooperation between ASEAN member states and Kazakhstan. Additionally, the meeting acknowledged the transfer of the AAC Chairmanship from the Embassy of Malaysia to the Royal Thai Embassy, effective from 21 September 2024.
