On 11 September 2022 H.E. Mr. ChatchawanSakornsin, Ambassador of Thailand to Kazakhstan, together with Mr. FarkhatAmankulov, President of Muay Thai Federation of Kazakhstan, and Dr. Supranee Guptasa, Manager of the Sports Development Fund of Thailand,presided over the opening ceremony the Thai-Kazakh "Muay Thai" Championship on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Kazakhstan. The Championshipcomprised 6 friendly matches between Thai and Kazakh boxers and one special match between Thai professional boxers. The Competition was live-broadcasted through Qazsport TV Channel of Kazakhstan and T Sport 7 TV Channel of Thailand.
As part of the Muay Thai promotion activity, on 10 September 2022, the Royal Thai Embassy in Nur-Sultan also organized Muay Thai master class at Eluhan Muaythai Camp. The activity was aimed at raising awareness of Muay Thai and Thai martial arts among Kazakh youth. About 100Kazakh children, aged between 3-15, attended the master class, during which the Muay Thai postures as well as the ritual of Waikru were taught by the Muay Thai specialists from Thailand.
Both activities of Muay Thai in Kazakhstan were successfully organized. The activities have greatly contributed to the promotion of Thai culture through Muay Thai in Kazakhstan and the Central Asian region. These Muay Thai activitieswere also considered a flagship project of the Royal Thai Embassy in Nur-Sultan to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Thailand and Kazakhstan.
