On 15 July 2026, H.E. Mrs. Piyapin Niyomrerks, Ambassador of Thailand to Kazakhstan, attended the handover ceremony of the Chairmanship of the Astana ASEAN Committee (AAC) at the Residence of the Ambassador of Indonesia. On this occasion, H.E. Dr. Mochammad Fadjroel Rachman, Ambassador of Indonesia to Kazakhstan, handed over the Chairmanship to H.E. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Le, Ambassador of Viet Nam to Kazakhstan. H.E. Mr. Mohd Adli bin Abdullah, Ambassador of Malaysia to Kazakhstan, also attended the ceremony.

The AAC members reviewed the Committee’s activities over the past year, which included cultural and sporting events, as well as coordination among the Embassies of ASEAN Member States. These activities contributed to raising ASEAN’s visibility, strengthening solidarity among ASEAN members, and fostering closer relations with the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The Astana ASEAN Committee serves as an important mechanism for promoting cooperation among the Embassies of ASEAN Member States and supporting activities that enhance mutual understanding and friendship between ASEAN and Kazakhstan.
