From 5 to 9 July 2026, the Royal Thai Embassy in Astana organized the project “Caring for Thais in Kazakhstan in Astana and Almaty on 6 and 9 July 2026, respectively. The activity in Almaty was conducted in conjunction with the Embassy’s Mobile Consular Services project. Dr. Pataraporn Kinnara, Medical Specialist, and Dr. Warangkana Rukngan, Senior Professional-Level Medical Officer, from the Princess Mother National Institute on Drug Abuse Treatment, Department of Medical Services, Ministry of Public Health of Thailand, had been invited by the Royal Thai Embassy to participate in the project. The two doctors provided basic health check-ups and consultations on mental health issues to more than 70 Thai nationals in Kazakhstan. 

At the opening ceremony of the project in Astana, H.E. Mrs. Piyapin Niyomrerks, Ambassador of Thailand to Kazakhstan, welcomed the participants and reaffirmed the Embassy’s important mission to safeguard the welfare and protect the interests of Thai nationals in Kazakhstan. She encouraged members of the Thai community to follow news and updates through the Embassy’s official Facebook page and to stay connected with the Embassy through its various communication channels, including the emergency hotline at +7 775 968 2831  for urgent matters, the Embassy’s telephone number at +7 717 279 7753, email at [email protected], and the Thai community’s LINE group, “Thai@KZ สถานทูต”, for general enquiries. These channels enable Thai nationals to seek advice and assistance from the Embassy in a timely manner. The Ambassador also commended participants, most of whom work in the spa and wellness sector, noting that each of them is regarded as a “cultural ambassador” who helps promote Thai culture and hospitality and creates positive impressions among the people of Kazakhstan. Their contributions play an important role in fostering goodwill towards Thailand at the people-to-people level. At the opening ceremony in Almaty, Dr. Orathai Phubunlap Gunaseelan, Minister-Counsellor, delivered the opening remarks and welcomed the participants on behalf of the Ambassador. She underscored the importance of the Thai Foreign Ministry’s “Public Diplomacy” in supporting Thai nationals in Kazakhstan, as well as the Embassy’s commitment to promoting their well-being and enabling them to live and work happily in the country.

          The project featured the following key activities: (1) basic health screenings, preliminary mental health consultations, and a talk on maintaining physical and mental well-being while living abroad, conducted by the medical team from Thailand; (2) briefing on the protection of Thai nationals overseas by Ms. Yanisa Chuchotthavorn Gefen, Counsellor and Consul; (3) mobile passport application services and consultations on civil registration matters for Thai nationals residing in Almaty and nearby areas; and (4) recreational activities aimed at boosting morale and fostering a sense of community among Thai nationals. The Projects “Caring for Thais in Kazakhstan” in Astana and Almaty, together with the mobile consular services in Almaty, was conducted in a warm and friendly atmosphere. The project provided Thai nationals in Kazakhstan with an opportunity to consult directly with medical professionals and the Embassy’s Consul, while gaining access to essential consular services. The project also served as a platform for members of the Thai community to meet, exchange experiences of living abroad, and strengthen their networks and mutual support.
